A fresh look at critical global problems – food, oil and climate

UN University has launched a new website – Our World 2.0 – devoted to examining the most critical problems of our time: climate change, peak oil, and the food crisis.
Our World 2.0 asks the question: What can we do when faced with these complex, inter-connected and pressing problems? The “webzine” and series of video briefs will report on and analyze innovations responses to these challenges.
The central tenet is that we can use our collective knowledge, technology and design to facilitate creativity, innovation and, most notably, collaborative action that bring immediate benefits in people’s well-being.
The web site was produced by the UNU Media Studio and is now online as a public beta at http://ourworld.unu.edu/en/. Recent postings include Cool United Nations, highlighting the launch of an initiative to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint of UN Headquarters in New York, and a special report on the outcome of the G8 summit, held in Toyako, Japan.
